The Trinity River is known for being a world class fishing destination for Salmon, Steelhead and brown trout. The steelhead season starts in September and ends in March. There are two runs for Salmon. The spring run begins in June and ends in August just in time for the Fall run Salmon which is accompanied by a large run of steelhead. Steelhead average 6-10lbs with some steelhead as big as 16lbs and salmon average 8-15lbs. Steelhead can be in the river up until March. There have been salmon as large as 41lbs pulled out of the river as well. Coho (Silver) and King (Chinook) are the salmon that reside in the Trinity. Fly fishing, pulling plugs, roe, and lures can be used to hook in to any of the fish in the river almost year around.
